Kulgam, Oct 16: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg Thursday lauded the organisers of the third edition of the Veshow Literary Festival in Kulgam, highlighting its growing success and cultural significance.

He also announced that plans are underway to expand the festival on a larger scale in the coming years.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate the entire organising committee of the third edition of the Veshow Literary Festival, led by Deputy Commissioner Athar Sahib, and extend my best wishes to the people of Kulgam. I also wish to congratulate our DDC Chairperson Parray Sahib, the Principal of GDC Kulgam and their entire team for their excellent coordination in making this event possible,” he said.

He said it made him especially happy to see that in today’s inaugural program, the participation of female students was higher than that of male students. “Our Lieutenant Governor also joined virtually and conveyed his greetings and good wishes to the people of Kulgam for this festival,” the Div Com said.

“It is a matter of great joy that this festival, which began in 2023, has continued to grow every year. Today, several books were released and many distinguished authors participated in the event to interact with students,” he added.

“The detailed exhibition that we saw today at GDC Kulgam is also commendable. The organising team truly deserves appreciation for their hard work and dedication in keeping this tradition alive and strengthening it further,” he said.

On the festival’s cultural importance, Garg said, “Our Chief Guest repeatedly highlighted how Kulgam’s tradition, its Sufi heritage, culture and music represent a rich history. This literary festival plays a very important role in preserving and promoting that heritage. I am confident that our youth will take this tradition forward with the same enthusiasm and passion.”

The Div Com also appealed to students and the youth to actively engage in the two-day festival. “There will be several sessions where many scholars and intellectuals will share their thoughts. Their presence will make these sessions even more meaningful and enriching. I also request everyone to share their feedback and suggestions, so that we can plan to expand this event on a larger scale in the future,” said the Div Com Garg adding our DDC Chairperson, along with local representatives, is already working on how to make this festival even better, and we will continue to work on it over the next two days—(KNO)
