Srinagar, Aug 17: Khonmoh outskirts of Srinagar city, remained on edge on Monday after a 30-year-old man was injured in a bear attack, the third such incident reported in the area within the past 24 hours, officials said.
The latest attack took place at Sarhandi Colony, where Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, was attacked by the bear and later shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar. His condition is stated to be stable.
An official from the Wildlife Division, Khonmoh that a cage has been installed, and teams are continuing searches to trace the animal.
“The bear had come in search of food and shelter. There are several corn fields in the area and human habitation is nearby. We have been searching for it since yesterday and have also installed a cage,” the official said.
The latest attack follows an attack on a man on Monday morning and another on a 57-year-old woman on Sunday, making it the third bear attack reported in Khonmoh within 24 hours.
