SRINAGAR, APRIL 17: Government College of Education (GCoE), IASE Srinagar is actively participating in the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) 2026, and on Friday the institute organised two significant activities under the banner aimed at promoting substance abuse prevention and mental well-being among students and staff.

The College Wellbeing and Anti-Substance Cell (CWASC), as per an official statement, in collaboration with the Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges organized an awareness and lecture session in the Conference Hall of the institution, focusing on the HED NMBA Policy 2026, outlining a comprehensive roadmap for developing substance-free and mentally healthy campuses.

Principal, Dr. Seema Naz graced the occasion as Patron.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Lateef Ahmad Shah and moderated by Prof. Mohd Ishaq Dar, who highlighted the administrative framework and monitoring mechanisms of CWASC.

In his technical lecture, Prof. Lateef Ahmad Shah elaborated on key policy components, including the Mentor-Mentee System, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, and the Pyramidal Sports Model to ensure holistic student engagement.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion focusing on post-rehabilitation reintegration strategies, including academic flexibility through SWAYAM and bridge courses.

In continuation of the initiative, a Mass Pledge-taking Ceremony was organized by the Department of Languages in collaboration with CWASC. The pledge taking ceremony aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among participants towards building a drug-free society.

Students and staff took a solemn pledge, committing themselves to abstain from drugs, spread awareness, and contribute actively to a healthier nation. The ceremony reinforced the message of collective responsibility with the slogan, “Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushhaal Bharat.”

The conduct of these activities reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and wellness-oriented academic environment under the broader framework of NMBA 2026.
