SRINAGAR, MAY 04: A Yoga Awareness Event was Monday organized at Polo Ground Srinagar under the aegis of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, aiming to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among youth.

The programme, as per an official statement, was conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education Kashmir under the directions of District Administration Srinagar and was coordinated by the District AYUSH Office Srinagar.

On the occasion, speakers emphasized the importance of yoga as a holistic discipline that significantly contributes to physical and mental well-being. They highlighted its role as an effective tool in preventing substance abuse and fostering a balanced lifestyle.

The event was organized with the objective of raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging the adoption of healthy and disciplined living through yoga practices. Participants were sensitized about preventive approaches to addiction and the importance of building a drug-free society.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff of various government schools, along with officials from the AYUSH and Education Departments.

Among those present were Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din; District AYUSH Officer Srinagar, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Payer; Nodal Officer (Yoga & Naturopathy), Dr. Seema Mustafa; and District Coordinator (CEO Srinagar), Hina Amin.

A mass yoga demonstration by participating students, an awareness session on drug abuse prevention, and interactive engagements promoting healthy lifestyle practices were key highlights of the event.

Participants actively performed yoga exercises and reinforced the message: “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life.”

The event served as a significant initiative in spreading awareness and encouraging youth to embrace a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle.
