Boy drowns in Nigeen Lake

Srinagar, Jun 01: A boy drowned to death while bathing in Nigeen Lake near Nigeen Club area of Srinagar on Monday afternoon, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a rescue team comprising SDRF Nigeen and others launched a rescue operation soon after receiving information about the incident.

He said the boy was retrieved from the water and shifted to SDH Hazratbal (Habbak), where doctors declared him brought dead.

The deceased was later identified as Nazil Shakeel Bhat, son of Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Nowhatta area of Srinagar.

Meanwhile, cognizance of the incident has been taken up. (KNO)
