YSS Kishtwar conducts inter-school zonal tournaments, Fit India Run

KISHTWAR, JUNE 09: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Kishtwar organised inter-school zonal level tournaments in Chess, Badminton and Football across Zones Kishtwar and Nagseni.

In Zone Kishtwar, the U-14 Boys Football competition was held at Chowgan Ground Kishtwar, the U-14 Boys Chess event at GHSS Boys Kishtwar and the U-14 Boys Badminton competition at ITI Kishtwar. A total of 127 students participated in these competitions.

Zone Nagseni organised the U-17 Boys and Girls Badminton competitions at BVM HSS Kishtwar, with a total participation of 79 students. The tournaments provided a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and prepare for higher-level competitions.

YSS Kishtwar also organised a Fit India Run under the Fit India Movement as part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan. The event saw participation of 3,185 students and staff members from educational institutions across the district.

The Fit India Run was conducted at several institutions, including HSS Filler, HSS Patnazi, HS Affani, HS Bandrena, UPS Upper Kundgwari, HSS Boys Kishtwar, HS Galhar, HS Cherhar, MS Gulabgarh, MS Lower Huller, MS Indra Nagar, MS Bhatta Palmar, MS Kundhali, MS City Girls, UPS Razna Palmar, UPS Ward No. 2, UPS Lanyal, MS Poohie Khurd, UPS Ramli, UPS Zargar Mohalla, UPS Sheikh Pura, UPS Umer Mohalla, UPS Seman Kadal and UPS Matta, among others across the district.

The activities aimed to promote physical fitness, healthy living and awareness against substance abuse among students and youth.

The events were conducted under the direction of Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K Anuradha Gupta, under the supervision of District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma and under the guidance of DYSSO Kishtwar Jaffer Haider Sheikh.

The successful conduct of both the tournaments and the Fit India Run was made possible through the efforts of all Zonal Physical Education Officers, PEMs, PETs, REK teachers, GMs and field staff of YSS Kishtwar.
