Sikh delegation discusses Nagar Kirtan with LG Sinha

Srinagar, Oct 29: A Sikh delegation, led by S. Harjinder Singh Dhami, President, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib and Shriman Mahant Manjeet Singh, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday.

The delegation comprising S. Ajit Singh, Chairman, All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee; Bhai Harbhinder Singh, Incharge, SGPC Sikh Mission J&K; Bhai Jagtar Singh, Coordinator/Advisor, SGPC Dharam Parchar Committee; SGPC Executive members, office bearers and members of Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees discussed with the Lieutenant Governor the preparations for the Nagar Kirtan scheduled to commence from Gurdwara Mattan Sahib on November 15, 2025, as a part of the observance of 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. They also discussed the promotion of Punjabi language in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

Mahant Rohit Shastri, President, Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, along with the Trustee R.K. Chhibber, also called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

They projected various issues pertaining to the promotion of Sanskrit language, recognition of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul as “Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya” (Model Sanskrit College) and establishment of “Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Divyang University”.
