Says it will boost J&K’s growth
Meets Mumbai media delegation
Srinagar, Oct 08: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said expanded railway infrastructure could support tourism, horticulture and industry in Jammu and Kashmir, while stronger connectivity in border areas was important for national security.
Sinha made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of media representatives from Mumbai at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar. He described the Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari rail link as a historic milestone in the Union Territory’s development.
The delegation, accompanied by Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek and senior railway officials, is on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to study its rail network and infrastructure.
Sinha said infrastructure modernisation had accelerated in recent years and that improved connectivity was vital to local economic development, particularly in border regions.
