Reviews progress of Aspirational Block Dev Prog in Khawas

Rajouri, Jul 08: Prabhari Officer for Aspirational Block Khawas, Harleen Kaur Director Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on Wednesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of the Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP) in Khawas. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, along with senior district officers and sectoral functionaries.

At the outset, the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the decisions taken during the previous review meeting was reviewed in detail. Department-wise progress on key performance indicators, implementation of developmental initiatives and compliance on pending issues was assessed. The Prabhari Officer directed all departments to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and submit updated compliance reports supported by accurate data.

A detailed review of the block’s performance under the Aspirational Block Development Programme was conducted, covering education, health, agriculture, horticulture, rural development, drinking water supply, power, financial inclusion and social welfare. Officers highlighted achievements, best practices, beneficiary saturation, challenges and future action plans aimed at improving service delivery.

Deputy Commissioner highlighted the progress achieved under the programme and reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to improving key development indicators through effective implementation of government schemes, strengthened inter-departmental coordination and focused planning.

Emphasising the need for convergence and last-mile delivery, Harleen Kaur directed all departments to ensure 100 percent saturation of eligible beneficiaries under welfare schemes, strengthen field-level monitoring and maintain proper documentation under the Aspirational Block Development Programme. She stressed the importance of regular field visits, close monitoring and active community participation for achieving sustainable developmental outcomes.

Appreciating the progress made in Khawas, the Prabhari Officer lauded the efforts of the District Administration, particularly Deputy Commissioner for initiatives in the education and health sectors, establishment of an ATM facility and construction and operationalisation of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya. She noted that significant improvement had been witnessed in educational outcomes and commended the dedication of officers and field functionaries.

On the occasion, Class 12 toppers from Khawas were felicitated for their outstanding academic achievements, while students who represented the district at the national level in boxing were also honoured for bringing laurels to the region. Interacting with the students, Harleen Kaur congratulated them on their achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.

She also acknowledged the progress achieved in agriculture, horticulture, health and other sectors, directing all departments to work in close coordination to transform Khawas into a model Aspirational Block. She appealed to the public to actively participate in the development process and provide constructive feedback to the District Administration for improving implementation and achieving better outcomes.

Adding colour to the programme, school students presented vibrant cultural performances depicting the rich traditions and heritage of the region, which were highly appreciated by the dignitaries and participants.

Later, the Prabhari Officer visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Khawas, where she reviewed healthcare services, inspected infrastructure and interacted with patients to obtain first-hand feedback regarding medical facilities.

She also visited the J&K Bank branch at Khawas, handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries under Mission YUVA and inspected the newly installed ATM facility aimed at improving banking accessibility in the area.

During her visit, Harleen Kaur inaugurated the newly constructed Panchayat Ghar at Khawas and also handed over keys of houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to beneficiaries, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to improving rural infrastructure and ensuring housing for all eligible families.

Among others present were ADDC Malikzada Sheraz-ul-Haq, ADC Koteranka Dil Mir, PO ICDS Harpal Singh, DFO Nowshera Shweta Deona, Deputy Director Employment, Mohd Nawaz, ACD Auqil Nuvaid, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manohar Lal Rana, ARTO Ashiq Rafiq Malik and other district and sectoral officers besides field functionaries from various departments.
