DC Rajouri reviews implementation of Skill Development Programmes

‎‎RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 11:  Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma Friday chaired a meeting of the District Skill Committee to review the implementation of the Skill Development Programmes and discuss measures for expanding skill-based livelihood and entrepreneurship opportunities in the district.

‎‎The meeting deliberated on strengthening convergence among departments and developing training programmes in accordance with local resources, market demand and emerging employment opportunities.

‎‎The Fisheries Department was asked to identify eligible beneficiaries under Mission Yuva, for pond-based fisheries activities, while the Rural Development Department will facilitate the construction of ponds for the identified beneficiaries.

‎‎Meeting decided to organise training programmes on milk processing at the block level to promote value addition, entrepreneurship and sustainable income generation in rural areas.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner asked the agriculture and allied departments to work on plans for enhancing the skills of beneficiaries of their departments to meet the market requirement.  He also stressed on promoting innovative ideas aligned with new technology.

‎‎Discussing skill development interventions in border areas, the meeting explored collaboration with the Red Cross for extending suitable training and capacity-building programmes to youth in these areas.

‎‎The DC also reviewed the scope and functioning of Skill Training Centres and emphasised on strengthening their outreach and aligning courses with emerging market requirements.

‎‎Highlighting the potential of emerging technologies, the DC stressed exploring AI-based video production and other digital skills as part of future-oriented training initiatives for youth.

‎‎The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure close coordination, identify innovative livelihood opportunities and make skill development programmes more outcome-oriented so that trained youth can access sustainable employment and self-employment opportunities.

‎‎The meeting was attended by ADDC, Malik Zada Sheraz Ul Haq; PO ICDS, Harpal Singh; CPO, Maqsood Ahmed; ACD, Sheraz Chowhan; Dy DEO, Mohd Nawaz Choudhary; DSWO, Abdul Raheem; CEO Mohd Hafiz; CAO, Rajesh Verma and other concerned officers.
