Says disruptions affect people’s expectations, urges govt to deliver
Srinagar, Sep 25 (KNO): AAP MLA Mehraj Malik on Friday said the ruckus in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly over the Statehood resolution denied the House an opportunity to place the positions of the government and opposition on record.
Malik told that a debate should have been allowed on the resolution so that people in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the country and the world, could understand what the government and opposition wanted on the issue.
He said the disruptions diverted attention from the actual substance of the resolution and affected people’s expectations from their elected representatives. “Ruckus will not serve anything. Use the mic to raise issues,” Malik said, adding that such stunts were a mockery of representation.
He urged legislators to allow the government to function and ensure that people do not continue to suffer. “If they can give six gas cylinders, why can’t they regularise casual labourers? Who gave them this power, LG?” he said.
He also called for greater focus on pending public issues and urged the media to remind the government of its commitments and responsibilities.
“The government should work and the media should remind them of their works which the government has taken for granted and is hiding from its responsibilities,” Malik said—(KNO)
