Says EV rally significant step towards sustainable tourism in J&K, hails women-led initiative
Srinagar, Sep 25 (KNO): Terming women-led Electric Vehicle (EV) rally from Jammu to Srinagar as a significant step towards achieving the goal of sustainable tourism, Joint Director, Tourism Kashmir, Waseem Raja, on Friday said that embracing green mobility would add a new dimension to the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
Raja received the rally at TRC Complex here. He welcomed the participants and appreciated the initiative.
“This EV rally is a milestone and a step towards achieving the goal of sustainable tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. We really appreciate their zest, commitment and endeavour of promoting Kashmir tourism and green and sustainable tourism,” he said.
Raja said the participants had “walked the talk” on sustainable tourism by travelling from Jammu to Srinagar in electric vehicles, calling it a great initiative.
“We say, we talk about sustainable tourism, but they have walked the talk. These green events are needed. We want to promote sustainable tourism,” he said.
He said the participants would visit several destinations during their stay in Kashmir, including a Dal Lake cruise, adding that such initiatives would help promote Jammu and Kashmir tourism.
He said the Tourism Department had also collaborated on a concert scheduled for Saturday.
The JD said the initiative also aimed to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a safe destination while encouraging greener tourism “for a better tomorrow.”—(KNO)
