Srinagar, Oct 04: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the wider Muslim Ummah on the auspicious occasion of the Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Pir-e-Lasani, Qutb-e-Rabbani, Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) also revered as Ghaus-e-Azam Dastagir (RA).

In their message, the duo paid glowing tribute to the unparalleled spiritual stature and enduring legacy of Hazrat Ghaus-e-Azam (RA). They described him as a towering reviver (Mujaddid), a peerless preacher and a radiant fountainhead of divinity (Ma’rifah) and God-consciousness (Taqwa), whose life and teachings continue to illuminate the hearts of millions across the globe.

They said that Hazrat Dastagir Sahib (RA), through his embodiment of Tawheed, humility, and boundless compassion, transformed the spiritual landscape of his time and laid the foundation for a rich tradition of Sufism and universal brotherhood that endures to this day. His message of love, tolerance, and unity has transcended time and space, deeply influencing the spiritual and socio-cultural ethos of not only Jammu and Kashmir but the entire Subcontinent.

The duo further noted that the revered shrine of Dastagir Sahib (RA) at Khanyar, Srinagar, remains a symbol of Kashmir’s syncretic spiritual heritage, visited not only by the Muslims of the Valley but also venerated by Kashmiri Pandits, who have, for generations, expressed profound reverence for the saint.

They emphasised that the teachings of great Sufi luminaries such as Shah Jeelani (RA) have played a pivotal role in shaping the harmonious fabric of Kashmiri society, rooted in shared values of compassion, coexistence, and mutual respect.

They prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to bless the people with enduring peace, collective prosperity, and spiritual upliftment. They an ldo expressed hope that the Urs of Ghaus-e-Azam (RA) becomes a means of divine mercy (Rahmah), unity among hearts, and renewed dedication to the path of righteousness.

“May the illuminating legacy of Hazrat Ghaus-e-Azam (RA) continue to guide us all towards the path of divine nearness and social harmony, InshaAllah,” the message concluded.

Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Addl GS Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Advisor to HCM Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, MPs Mian Altaf Ahmad and Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Provincial President Kashmir Showkat Mir have also extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious Urs Observance.
