Jammu, Jan 09: A State-Level Training Workshop for District Nodal Officers on the TB Mukt Panchayat Initiative was on Friday organized by the State TB Cell here in the Conference Hall Directorate of Health Services.

Hosted under the guidance of Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, the workshop aimed to orient District Nodal Officers on the objectives, guidelines and implementation strategies of the TB Mukt Panchayat Initiative under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). The training emphasized strengthening coordination at the district and Panchayat level to accelerate efforts towards the elimination of tuberculosis.

The workshop was inaugurated by State TB Officer (STO) Jammu Dr. Jyoti Jolly. WHO Consultant Dr. Praveen Yadav provided a detailed overview of the initiative and its operational framework.

Participants were sensitized on their role and responsibilities, monitoring and reporting mechanisms and the importance of community participation through Panchayati Raj Institutions. Interactive sessions were held to address operational challenges and share best practices for effective implementation at the grassroots level.

Officials highlighted the need for sustained commitment and effective inter-departmental convergence to achieve the goal of making Panchayats TB-free. The State TB Cell reaffirmed its commitment to supporting districts through continuous guidance and capacity-building initiatives.

The workshop was attended by Chief Medical Officers, District TB Officers, District Programme Coordinators, DEOs and the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme team of Jammu Division.
