Ramban, 09 Jan: The Labour Department Ramban on Friday organized a mega awareness camp in the Conference Hall Maitra to acquaint workers about the new Labour Codes and Social Security Schemes. The programme, held under the supervision of Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar, was attended by over 150 workers, including GREF workers, contract labourers, construction workers and other unorganized sector workers.

The camp focused on generating awareness about the four New Labour Codes and the Social Security Schemes.

Addressing the gathering, the ALC highlighted the key provisions of the Code on Wages- 2019; Industrial Relations Code-2020; Code on Social Security-2020 and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code- 2020. He emphasized that these codes consolidate 29 central labour laws, thereby enhancing Ease of Living for workers and Ease of Doing Business for employers. The Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM) pension scheme was also elaborated in detail.

Officials from J&K Bank imparted awareness on Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). District Employment Officer (DEO) briefed participants about the welfare schemes being implemented in the district under the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).

As many as 15 on-the-spot registrations were carried out under PMSYM by CSC VLEs.

Later, the officials addressed grievances related to labour card registration, renewal and other procedural matters.

The event aimed to empower the local workforce and ensure their financial security through social security schemes and the provisions of the New Labour Codes.
