Srinagar, Oct 29: Stating that the promises made with the J&K people are yet to be fulfilled, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Khanyar and National Conference (NC) General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar Wednesday said that the dual power system is hampering the functioning of the Omar Abdullah-led government in the region.

During the Zero Hour, the MLA Khanyar, while speaking in the House, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of playing ‘divisive politics.’

“BJP legislators should listen to the issues pertaining to both the regions, Jammu as well as Kashmir,” he said.

“Everybody knows there is a dual power system in Jammu and Kashmir. The elected government has been facing obstacles,” he said.

Sagar while referring to the statehood restoration said that the promises made with J&K people are still unfulfilled.

The NC legislator also hailed the Speaker for ensuring smooth conduct of the assembly proceedings, stating that the House has been focusing on real issues.

Reacting to a statement made by a BJP legislator, Sagar said the MLAs should speak thoughtfully.  “We should ensure that our words do not hurt the sentiments of any community,” said, Sagar, who spoke in the house for the first time—(KNO)
