Police arrest absconder after 19 years

Ganderbal, Nov 03: Continuing its special drive against absconders, Police in Ganderbal on Monday said to have achieved another success by arresting one more absconder who had been evading arrest for 19 years.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Iqbal Zargar son of Ghulam Mohammad Zargar resident of Gulab Bagh Zakura, Srinagar, who was wanted in Case FIR No. 33/2006 U/S 420 RPC of Police Station Kangan, a police spokesman said in a statement.

Acting on specific information, a police team from Police Station Kangan apprehended the said absconder from Srinagar. After completing all legal formalities, the accused was produced before the Court of JMIC Kangan, wherefrom he has been sent to Subsidiary Jail Dignibal, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, J&K Police reiterated its resolve to continue its relentless pursuit against all offenders and absconders in the interest of justice and public safety—(KNO)
