Says NC will emerge victorious in by-polls; promises action against erring private schools

Srinagar, Nov 08:  Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare Departments, Sakina Itoo on Saturday said that elected government in the Union Territory setup has far less powers than it had when J&K was a state.

Talking to the reporters, Minister Itoo said, “Those who turned our state to UT are responsible for what is happening in Jammu and Kashmir currently.”

“As far as the developmental works are concerned, I must say that we are working very hard. We don’t have the same power which we used to have when J&K was a state,” she said.

About the Budgam by-polls, Itoo said that people are responding very positively and are attending every event of NC.

The Minister said “People are welcoming the NC workers and the by-poll candidates. I am sure that they will emerge victorious.”

“From the first day of the NC government, we have been trying hard to provide every possible facility to the people at their doorsteps,” she said.

Besides, the minister also said, “We have received complaints against some private schools for violating the government norms with regard to the purchase of textbooks and other matters. We are examining the matter and whatever is required, the government will do it.”—(KNO)
