SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 11: In continuation of the ongoing celebrations marking 150 years of National Pride, ‘Vande Mataram’, a series of events were organized Tuesday across all blocks of District Shopian with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal.
The events were coordinated by the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Chief Education Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, respective BDOs of Ramnagri, Shopian, Kanjulliar, Chitragam, Imamsahib, Zainapora, Kaprin, Keller and Hermain.
Principals and staff of various Higher Secondary Schools took a leading role in organizing activities under the Vande Mataram theme.
Among the Institutions that actively participated, were HSS Zainapora, HSS Imamsahib, GHSS Shopian, HSS Kellar, HSS Narpora, HSS Hermain, HSS Kaprain, HSS Kanjulliar and HSS Ramnagri.
The schools held cleanliness drives, paintings, beautification initiatives around public buildings, walls, main roads, symbolizing respect for the national song and love for the motherland.
Students, teachers, members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions also took part in awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives promoting Swachh Bharat Abhiyan ideals in connection with the celebration. Patriotic songs, speeches, interactive sessions were conducted to educate students and the general public about the historical cultural significance of Vande Mataram in India’s freedom struggle and national unity
