Pulwama, Nov 17: Continuing its sustained efforts to bring absconders and proclaimed offenders to justice, Police in Pulwama on Monday said to have arrested two individuals who had been evading the law for prolonged periods.

“Acting on specific inputs, Police Station Kakapora arrested Nazir Ahmad Dar @ Rustum son of Abdul Salam Dar resident of Katibugh Kakpora. He had been declared a proclaimed offender by the Hon’ble Court of JMIC Pulwama in a case under the Negotiable Instruments Act. After remaining at large for an extended period, he was apprehended and produced before the Hon’ble Court,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

In another action, Police Station Rajpora apprehended Shabir Ahmad Gorsi son of Balya Gorsi resident of Zampathri Keller, Shopian. He was wanted in FIR No. 31/1996 under Sections 7/25 Arms Act and had been absconding for nearly 25 years. After his arrest, he too was produced before the Hon’ble Court as per legal procedure, police said.

These timely arrests reaffirm J&K Police’s firm resolve to uphold the rule of law and take decisive action against individuals attempting to evade the legal process. Police will continue their efforts to ensure that such offenders are brought before the law without fail, the statement added. (KNO
