Comprehensive checks of chemical shops, hospitals carried out

Srinagar/Jammu, Nov 24 (KNO): Jammu & Kashmir Police on Monday continued with its extensive security inspections and joint operations across the region as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and prevent unlawful activities, officials said here.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the operations included checks of commercial establishments, hospitals, and border areas, supported by multiple security agencies.

“In Srinagar, police carried out inspections of chemical and fertiliser shops across several police station jurisdictions, including Harwan, Lal Bazar, Chanapora, Rajbagh, RM Bagh, MR Ganj, Safakadal, Zadibal, Hazratbal, Nigeen, Saddar, and Khanyar,” an official said.

He said the teams verified stock and sales records, ensured identity checks for bulk purchasers, inspected secure storage of materials, and reviewed license validity. The shop owners, he added, were briefed to report suspicious transactions and maintain proper documentation.

In Pulwama, police conducted sudden inspections of hospital staff lockers to prevent misuse of hospital spaces and ensure safety protocols. Similar checks were carried out in other health centres across the valley.

Multiple CASOs were also conducted in Kashmir, during which several locations were searched and individuals questioned to prevent anti-national activities.

In Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts, security forces launched joint search operations, focusing on border villages and sensitive areas.

The official said the teams from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Special Operations Group (SOG), Border Security Force (BSF), and Army carried out the operations to monitor infiltration routes and strengthen local security.

“Checkpoints were established along key routes, including the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, with vehicles checked thoroughly,” he added.

In Kathua, the officials said that operations targeted border villages, with BSF and local border police using drones and sniffer dogs to monitor dense forests and ravines for suspicious activity.

The south Kashmir districts, including Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara, and Shopian, also witnessed multiple operations aimed at maintaining security and public safety.

“These measures are part of an ongoing strategy to prevent unlawful activities, monitor sensitive areas, and ensure the safety of residents,” the official said. (KNO)
