BUDGAM, NOVEMBER 25: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Budgam, organized an Awareness Programme on the complete prohibition of manual scavenging and unsafe sewer cleaning at Sheikh ul Alam School Chadoora Tuesday.
The programme was conducted under the directions of Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, Shazia Tabassum and supervised by, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Budgam, O.P. Bhagat.
The primary objective of the programme was to ensure the complete prohibition of manual scavenging and all forms of unsafe sewer cleaning, in strict compliance with the statutory mandates.
DLSA, Budgam, deputed Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) and assistant LADC as resource persons for the event. They delivered insightful presentations on the scheme and sensitized the participants about its objectives, legal framework, and implementation mechanisms.
In his address, Deputy LADC, emphasized the prohibition of manual scavenging and unsafe sewer cleaning and explained the significance of implementing the Supreme Court’s directions.
Assistant LADC Budgam, also addressed the gathering and elaborated on various aspects of the subject, enhancing public understanding of the legal and humanitarian concerns associated with manual scavenging.
