Udhampur celebrates Constitution Day

UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 26: Like other parts of the country, Constitution Day was celebrated today with great patriotic fervour at the District Headquarters Udhampur.

A pledge-taking ceremony was organised by the District Administration in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Saloni Rai; Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore; PO Poshan Subash Dogra; GM DIC Kishore Singh Katoch; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr. Umesh Shan; Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh and other officers and officials of the District Administration participated in the ceremony.

The Preamble to the Constitution of India was read out, reaffirming   its significance, democratic values enshrined in the Constitution.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of Constitution Day. “The Day reminds every citizen of his fundamental duties, responsibilities towards the nation and commitment to uphold the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India,” she said. She emphasised the vision of the Constitution which upholds justice, liberty, equality and fraternity and urged all officials to embody these constitutional values in their actions and encourage others to do the same.

Earlier, the ceremony commenced with the singing of the National Anthem by the participants.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner flagged off a marathon from the DC Office Complex, with participation from students. The marathon spread the message of constitutional values and national pride.

The Constitution Day was observed across all district offices, where officers and staff also took the pledge and recited the Preamble to the Constitution.
