Budgam, Nov 28: Authorities on Friday ordered closure of Chadoora bridge in central Kashmir’s Budgam district for traffic movement after experts declared it unsafe due to damage by recent floods.

The bridge is a crucial link connecting Chadoora with Charar-i-Sharif, Yousmarg and Pulwama, and also provides vital access to three sub-district hospitals – Chadoora, Nagam and Charar-i-Sharif.

According to an order, the bridge has been shut down in the interest of public safety following an inspection by experts from DIQC, Srinagar.

It said the recent floods have dislocated the base of one of the bridge pillars, making the structure unsafe for vehicular movement and requiring immediate repair.

“All commuters must use alternative routes until further orders. The bridge will be reopened only after the completion of necessary repairs and clearance from competent authorities,” it said—(KNO)
