JAMMU, DECEMBER 04: The Information Technology Department Thursday convened a budget review meeting chaired by its Secretary, Dr Piyush Singla, to assess the ongoing initiatives and budgetary requirements of the Jammu & Kashmir e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA) for the 2026-27 fiscal.

CEO JaKeGA, Mahima Madan, as per an official statement, presented key proposals including establishment of Disaster Recovery Centres, augmentation of the State Data Centre and scaling up of e-Office 2.0 to district and block levels. Besides, updates were also shared on IT infrastructure such as WiFi strengthening, cyber-security enhancements, digitisation initiatives and the upcoming Internship Programme.

The Secretary IT encouraged the JaKeGA to engage with other states/UTs under peer-learning and best-practice exchange frameworks to study successful IT implementations for potential replication in J&K. He further underscored the strategic importance of the J&K Data Exchange, directing the JaKeGA to finalise the proposal to ensure maximum benefit to the UT Government. Besides, plans for establishing an AI and Emerging Technologies Facility were also discussed to enable advanced digital use cases across departments.

Other major areas reviewed included WiFi and LAN up-gradation for the Civil Secretariat.

The Secretary emphasised the need for timely budget approvals to ensure seamless execution of critical digital governance initiatives aimed at strengthening IT infrastructure and enhancing public service delivery across Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the IT Department and JaKeGA.
