Srinagar, Dec 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) Saturday clarified that the JKAS prelims examination will be held tomorrow as per the schedule.

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), JKPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary said, “There is no change in the date of the exam. It will be conducted as per the schedule.”

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has issued a clarification on microblogging site X—calling social media posts about the exam deferment as ‘misleading.’

It has said the age-relaxation file sent by the government was received at Lok Bhavan on December 2 and returned the same day with a query on the feasibility of changing eligibility criteria just days before the exam.

Earlier, Office of Chief Minister J&K on microblogging site X has expressed concern over the travel chaos issues saying “Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the travel chaos caused by the ongoing airline issues, compounded by the uncertainty resulting from Lok Bhavan’s delay in approving age relaxation, a provision granted multiple times in the past. He urged JKPSC to take note of the unprecedented stress on aspirants and consider postponing the exam in the interest of fairness and equal opportunity for all.” (SIC)

Minister Sakina Itoo also expressed concern over the situation and had appealed to the Commission to reconsider its stand in view of the hardships faced by aspirants.

She said that many students are unable to travel due to severe flight disruptions and they deserve a fair opportunity to appear in the examination. “It is not about delay, it is about fairness.” (KNO)
