UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 16: To discuss arrangements for the celebration of Republic Day function-2026, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai on Tuesday chaired a meeting with district officers from the line departments here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh; PO Poshan, Subash Chander Dogra; Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh; GM DIC, Kishore Singh Katoch; Assistant Commissioner Development, Om Parkash, DFO and other district heads attended the meeting.

Threadbare discussions were held on the arrangements including seating arrangements, barricading, security measures, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, first aid, public address system and deployment of fire-tenders.

It was decided in the meeting that the main function would be held at Government Degree College Boys. The event will commence with the Shehnai Vadan in the morning, organized by the Information department.

The DC, as per an official statement, tasked the Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, JPDCL and PWD for making seating, barricading and drinking water arrangements along with uninterrupted power supply at the function site.

The CEO Municipality was asked to maintain cleanliness in the town and at the venue. For first aid, the CMO was directed to deploy an ambulance along with a team of doctors and necessary medicines at the venue. “District and Traffic Police will ensure security and traffic management in the town,” she said.

Committees for rehearsal, reception, illumination and contingent selection were formed to ensure successful celebration of the national function. The DC urged the officers to make all necessary arrangements well in time with close inter-departmental coordination.

All departments were directed to have their officers and employees present at the venue on the day of the function.

The Chief Education Officer and District Youth Services and Sports Officer were instructed to ensure the participation of students from far-flung areas in the National event.
