Leopard mauls 5-yr-old girl to death in Anantnag

Anantnag, Dec 17: Panic gripped Gallan Gujjar Basti in the Khiram area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday evening after a leopard mauled a five-year-old girl to death.

According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the incident has triggered fear among locals , who rushed to the spot and informed the authorities.

An official said that the leopard attacked a 5-year-old girl namely Sumiya Jan daughter of Riyaz Ahmad Paswal resident of Galan Achdar Khiram and dragged her away from her home at Khiram Gujjar Basti.

He said that after the residents raised the alarm, the leopard left the girl in an injured condition following which she was taken to the PHC Srigufwara, where she succumbed.

Residents demanded immediate attention of the Wildlife department to trap the beast to avoid any further loss. (KNO)
