DC Kupwara reviews NRLM implementation

KUPWARA, JANUARY 10:  Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse conducted a comprehensive review meeting Saturday to evaluate the implementation and progress of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) throughout the district.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed NRLM interventions across all Community Development Blocks, with particular focus on the institutional fortification of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), promotion of livelihoods, establishment of credit linkages, capacity enhancement, and synergy with allied departments.

The District Programme Manager (DPM), NRLM, delivered a detailed presentation on performance metrics, informing that the Mission has encompassed 68,638 rural households via a robust institutional architecture comprising 8,316 SHGs, 684 Village Organisations (VOs), and 53 Cluster Level Federations (CLFs).

The Deputy Commissioner conducted a thorough block-wise evaluation of bank linkage advancement, credit disbursal to SHGs, physical accomplishments, identification of prospective Lakhpati Didis, development of Agri-Nutri Gardens, and constitution of Producer Groups. He directed concerned officers to rectify deficiencies in capitalization and guarantee prompt credit provision to all qualifying SHGs.

Achievements under Lakhpati Didi initiative were also discussed. He also directed optimal utilisation of Community Mobilization and Training Centres (CMTCs).

Pending matters at banks were scrutinized, with directives to financial institutions to resolve them on utmost priority. NRLM officials were instructed to enhance collaboration with banking entities for seamless credit facilitation.

Convergence with line departments including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Horticulture as well as with Mission Yuva was reviewed, advocating intensified integration. He also directed special focus in vibrant villages.Coverage under different social security schemes and mobilisation of SHG members in Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan was also discussed during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Mufti Fareed ud Din; Chief Planning Officer; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer; Lead District Manager; District Sheep Husbandry Officer; Assistant Director Fisheries; Employment Officer; District Programme Manager; and Block Programme Managers (BPMs) of NRLM.
