Bandipora finalises preparations for Republic Day celebrations

BANDIPORA, JANUARY 14: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Wednesday chaired a meeting of concerned officers at the Conference Hall to finalise preparations for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations in the district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, assessed the preparedness for the main function at S K Stadium, Bandipora, as well as celebrations planned at Sub-Divisions Gurez and Sumbal and other notified venues. While the concerned officers apprised the chair that preparations were progressing satisfactorily, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the need for continuous improvement to make the celebrations more engaging and inspiring.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed departments to ensure seamless arrangements for flag unfurling, Shahnai Vadan, march-past by contingents, cultural programmes, and proper seating and dais arrangements, keeping in view the seating capacity and prevailing weather conditions.

Emphasis was laid on theme-based cultural performances involving educational institutions, NSS volunteers, Scouts & Guides, musicians, and local artists. A District-level Committee was mandated to scrutinise and finalise all cultural items.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed the R&B and Municipal authorities to ensure proper illumination of government buildings, bridges, and roundabouts. Stress was also laid on ensuring adequate transport facilities for school children, availability of medical and fire services, drinking water supply, heating arrangements, and effective waste minimisation measures.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that prominent individuals and institutions working in Bandipora should be invited and honoured on Republic Day. These include representatives from the Geological and Archaeological Surveys, EPFO, Cooperative Societies, FPOs, FRA Committees, Forest Demarcation Office, Principal KFT Chitternaar, Civil Defence Wardens, and veterans through the Sainik Board.

The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Commanding Officers of 14 RR, 13 RR, 27 RR and CRPF; Commandant, 3rd Battalion CRPF; Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora; Assistant Commissioner Revenue; Programme Officer ICDS, ACD, ACP, besides other concerned district and sectoral officers.
