BUDGAM, JANUARY 14: District Administration Budgam is all set to commemorate 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” with grandeur and patriotic fervour.
In this regard, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Mehraj -ud-din shah Wednesday, as per an official statement, chaired a meeting of officers from all line departments in the sheikh-ul-Alam hall of the DC Office Complex to finalize the activity plan for the second phase of the year-long celebration.
At the outset, Chief planning officer budgam, Javaid Ahmad Najar briefed the meeting about the objectives, framework, and schedule of events planned for the celebration. He informed that the campaign, inaugurated in November 2025, is being implemented in four phases. He added that Phase-I has already been completed, while Phase-II will commence from January 19, 2026.
He further informed that Phase-II will include flag hoisting, invocation of “Vande Mataram,” cultural performances, screening of short films, and participation of all officers , offices across district.
The week-long celebration will further include essay and quiz competitions, exhibitions on the freedom struggle and “Vande Mataram,” police band performances, mural and wall paintings, cleanliness drives, youth rallies, mini-marathons, and documentary screenings to be organized by various departments.
The ADC said that the celebration of 150 years of “Vande Mataram ” would serve as a tribute to India’s rich cultural heritage and the spirit of patriotism that binds the nation together. He said that the celebrations are envisioned as a platform to rekindle national pride and to remind the younger generation of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in shaping the nation.
He further said that the celebrations should reflect the diversity, unity, and cultural vibrancy of Budgam district, ensuring that every citizen feels connected to the spirit of the event.
He stressed that departments must work in close coordination to guarantee widespread public involvement, particularly from students, youth, and community groups.
The ADC emphasised that all activities should be executed in an inclusive, innovative, and people-centric manner, making the celebrations a district-wide movement of patriotic expression and cultural pride.
The meeting was attended by CPO Budgam, all SDMs, ACD Budgam, CEO Budgam, CMO Budgam, District Information Officer, District Informatics Officer, Dysp HQ, representatives from traffic police budgam and other senior officers of the district administration.
