DC Srinagar inspects ST PG boys hostel, reviews tribal girls hostel proposal

SRINAGAR JANUARY 14: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Wednesday conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction works of the ST PG Boys Hostel at Tulsibagh and also carried out an on-site inspection of the proposed site for construction of a Tribal Girls Hostel at Chattabal area of the district.

During the visit, the DC, as per an official statement, was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; Superintending Engineer, R&B, Shabir Ahmad; SDM West, Irfan Bahadur; Executive Engineer R&B Division Rajbagh, Khalid Mehmood; Executive Engineer, R&B Karan Nagar, Abdul Qayoom; Deputy Director, Tribal Affairs, Tehsildar South, Tehsildar Central Shalteng, Warden Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel and other concerned.

At the ST PG Boys Hostel, Tulsibagh, the DC reviewed the pace and quality of the construction works completed so far. He directed the R&B Department to submit a plan immediately for the remaining works so that the hostel building is completed in all respects under phase-I and made functional for utilisation . He also instructed the department to prepare a plan for Phase-II of the hostel project to enhance the accommodation capacity.

The DC emphasized the importance of timely completion of the project to ensure adequate residential facilities for students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. He instructed the executing agencies to strictly adhere to quality standards and prescribed timelines while ensuring that all required amenities are provided as per norms.

Earlier, the DC inspected the proposed site for the Tribal Girls Hostel at Chattabal area of the district and reviewed the feasibility and planning aspects of the project. He directed the R&B Department to prepare a detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of the Girls Hostel and stressed the need to provide safe and well-equipped accommodation for tribal girls.

During the visit, the DC emphasized the importance of effective inter-departmental coordination to ensure smooth and timely execution of both the developmental projects.
