Says all arrangements in place for Republic Day

Baramulla, Jan 15: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh on Thursday said that special forces are conducting regular Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) ahead of Republic Day, with large-scale coordinated special operations launched across the district and inter-district levels.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a multi-agency disaster response drill at the ski resort in Gulmarg, Baramulla SSP, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), assured that all the arrangements for January 26 celebrations remain intact.

“Special operations have been launched wherein large-scale and coordinated efforts are underway all across the district and beyond”, he said.

The drill at Gulmarg, involving Police, Army, CRPF and BSF, simulated disaster and security scenarios to access response mechanism and inter-agency coordination. Notably, essential services and tourism activities continued uninterrupted.

Police had earlier urged the public not to panic, clarifying that the rehearsal is purely precautionary to refine protocols, enhance response time and identify areas for improvement during actual emergencies.

“These exercises help put our best foot forward in a real crisis,” the SSP added. (KNO)
