Dy CM inspects snow hit areas of Pulwama, Shopian

 Pulwama, Jan 28: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary Wednesday undertook an extensive tour of the snow-bound areas of Pulwama and Shopian districts to assess the post-snowfall situation besides reviewing progress on ongoing development works.

 

During the tour, the Deputy Chief Minister held a series of review meetings with the heads of concerned departments in both Pulwama and Shopian districts. He reviewed the snow clearance operations, restoration efforts and progress on ongoing  development works.

 

The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by legislators including Shabir Ahmad Kullay, Zainapora Showkat Hussain, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir and Vice Chairman DDC Pulwama Mukhtar Ahmad Bandh.

 

Deputy Commissioner Shopian Shishir Gupta, Chief Engineer PMGSY/MED/R&B South Kashmir, ADC Pulwama, ADC Shopian and other concerned officers also attended the meetings.

 

The Deputy Chief Minister visited several snow-affected areas including Pulwama, Rajpora, Kashbayar, Chek-Badrinath, Shajimarg and other adjoining localities to assess the ground condition and restoration efforts.

 

He also toured snow-bound areas of Shopian, Imam Sahab, Mimandar and surrounding parts, taking firsthand appraisal of snow clearance operations and essential service restoration.

 

During the visit, the Deputy Chief Minister held comprehensive review meetings on the status of ongoing PWD works in both the districts.

 

He issued strict directions to the concerned departments to ensure prompt restoration of road connectivity, uninterrupted essential services and timely completion of all developmental works.

 

Emphasising public convenience, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to work in close coordination and adopt a time-bound approach to mitigate hardships faced by the residents due to snowfall. He further instructed that all available machinery be pressed into service to ensure effective and swift restoration works.

The Deputy Chief Minister stressed that all necessary measures must be taken on priority to ensure safety, accessibility, and seamless service delivery across the affected areas.

 

While reviewing the progress of works in both the districts, the Deputy Chief Minister called for expediting the pace of execution and ensuring timely completion of all the projects.

 

During the tour, the Deputy Chief Minister also met various public delegations, patiently heard their grievances. He assured them that all their genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for early redressal.
