NSD TIE Centre stages children’s plays at Bharat Rang Mahotsav in Srinagar

Srinagar, FEBRUARY 16: As part of the 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) 2026, the world’s largest international theatre festival, the National School of Drama (NSD) TIE Centre, Srinagar, presented two Children’s Theatre Workshop productions titled “Qissa Kala Pahad Ka” and “Waai Woff”.

 The performances, as per PIB statement were staged by two different age groups (8–12 years and 12–16 years) at the NSD TIE Theatre Studio, Cultural Academy Campus, Lal Mandi, Srinagar.

The programme commenced with the playing of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav anthem during the inaugural session, in the presence of distinguished guests and theatre enthusiasts.

In his welcome address, Gulzar Ganaie, Coordinator, NSD TIE Centre, Srinagar, stated that this is the third time the Centre is organising Bharat Rang Mahotsav in Srinagar. He highlighted that the 25th edition marks a significant milestone in the journey of the festival and underscored the importance of theatre as a powerful medium for education, social change, and community engagement.

Lal Chand (JKAS), Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, attended the function as the Chief Guest, while Satish Vimal was the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries were felicitated with bouquets and shawls. The event was also attended by prominent theatre personalities of the Valley, including Mushtaque Ali Ahmad Khan and Shakeel-Ur-Rehman, among others.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Sandeep Chaudhary, who expressed gratitude to the guests, parents of the participants, and all attendees for their support and encouragement.
