Capacity building programme for DIPR staff continues at IIMC

JAMMU, February 26: The Six-day Capacity Building and Skill Enhancement Training programme for officers and officials of DIPR entered third day on Wednesday with second batch receiving training on Print Media Basics and Advanced Print Media Practices.

During the first two days, the first batch was trained in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fundamentals and Applications, as well as Advanced AI and its Practical Applications.

The programme was inaugurated on February 23, 2026, by Dr. Dilip Kumar, Regional Director, IIMC Jammu, who encouraged participants to achieve the objectives of the training. He highlighted the importance of continuous learning and professional upskilling in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape. He expressed confidence that the training sessions would enhance the professional competencies of participants and foster critical thinking, adaptability, and innovation in government communication practices.

Earlier, Dr. Vinit Kumar Jha Utpal, Coordinator of the DIPR Training Programme, shared details of the programme, including its subjects, modules, and guidelines, with the participants. Prof. Anil Sumitra delivered the introductory lecture and emphasized the crucial role of DIPR officers and officials in the government communication system.

On the first day, Dr. Vinit Kumar Jha Utpal spoke about the changing patterns of government communication. In the second and third sessions, Shri Bhawani Singh trained participants in fact-checking, digital verification tools, and AI-based multilingual drafting and speechwriting. In the fourth session, Shri Rajeev Kumar conducted a session on AI-enhanced multimedia and visual public relations.

On the second day, Dr. Rajendra P. Misra delivered a lecture on government communication in an AI-driven digital media ecology. In subsequent sessions, Shri Divyavasu Sharma trained participants in AI-powered crisis communication and guided them in developing AI-based projects. The final session of the day was conducted by Dr. Dilip Kumar, who spoke on AI ethics and cyber safety in government organizations.

On the third day,  Divyavasu Sharma conducted a session on content creation and linguistic design using AI tools. In the second and third sessions,  Vishav conducted practical classes on print media basics, layout principles, and mastering QuarkXPress. The final session was conducted by  Gulshan Kumar, who trained participants in graphics and image editing basics.

The training programme has been structured into three batches. The first batch underwent training on “AI Fundamentals and Applications” and “Advanced AI & Practical Applications.” The second batch, currently undergoing training, is being oriented on “Print Media Basics and Advanced Practices.” The third batch will receive training on “Electronic Media Basics and Advanced Practices” on February 27 and March 2, 2026.

The programme will see the participation of around 45 officers and officials of DIPR and aims to strengthen the institutional communication capacity of DIPR personnel by equipping them with contemporary media skills aligned with evolving public information needs and modern governance requirements.
