SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 25: Handicrafts & Handloom (H&H) department inaugurated 2-day Trainee Products’ Sale at Kashmir Haat here Wednesday.
During the sale, Craft products like hand-knotted woollen carpets, GI-tagged Pashmina shawls and stoles, Crewel curtains, Sozni embroidered shawls, Zari & Aari embroidered suits, tweed cloth, Chain Stitch rugs and cushion covers, tapestry, Gabba and Namda products, papier mâché and willow wicker souvenir and décor items, prepared by trainees of Training Centers across all 10 districts of Kashmir Division are being showcased.
The products available at extremely affordable rates, with pricing calculated only on the material component used and no labour cost is added, thereby ensuring cost-to-cost availability of authentic handmade crafts to buyers, besides providing platform for trainees to exhibit their skills.
District stalls are expected to record encouraging sales during the current exhibition, with particular interest anticipated in carpets, Pashmina, and other GI tagged crafts. The initiative continues to serve as a vital platform for trainees to gain exposure, besides promoting Kashmir’s rich craft heritage.

Pertinently, the last three trainee products’ exhibitions together generated a revenue of Rs. 57 lakh, reflecting the overwhelming public response and demand for Kashmir’s handmade products.
