New Delhi, Mar 09: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference MPs Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Gurwinder Singh Oberoi on Monday visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi and signed the condolence book on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran.

During their visit, the MPs met the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India, Dr. Mohammad Fathali and expressed deep anguish and profound sorrow over the tragic assassination of the revered leader. They conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Iran on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, and the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah.

On the occasion, the Members of Parliament also raised the issue of Kashmiri students currently stranded in Iran and emphasized the need to ensure their safety and facilitate their safe and early return. They noted that the families of these students are deeply concerned and hopeful that necessary steps will be taken to bring them back home safely.

The MPs also strongly condemned the unilateral and barbaric attack carried out by the United States and Israel on a sovereign nation, stating that such actions are in clear violation of international law and pose a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.

They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed hope for lasting peace, stability, and harmony in the region.

In the meantime, Peoples Democratic Party Chief Mehbooba Mufti on X said, “Visited the Iranian Cultural Centre & Embassy in Delhi to offer my deepest condolences to the people of Iran in these difficult times & paid my tributes to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on his martyrdom. Also took up the issue of Kashmiri students stranded in Iran with the Hon’ble Ambassador.”

“Called on the Iranian Ambassador H.E Dr Mohammad Fathali along with MLA Budgam Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi. We were touched by the warmth & graciousness of their staff despite the somber atmosphere & uncertainty because of the escalating situation. It’s indeed a powerful testament to the resilience of the people of Iran. May Allah SWT keep them safe in his protection. Ameen,” reads Mehbooba’s another Tweet post.
