Srinagar, Mar 19: In a humanitarian initiative ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Kashmir Bakers Confectioners Association (KBCA) on Thursday said they have distributed more than 560 bakery kits among underprivileged families across the Valley during Ramadan, aiming to ensure that the spirit of the festival reaches every household.

In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the distribution drive, carried out in three phases, reflects the Association’s continued commitment to social welfare. By reaching hundreds of families, KBCA has reinforced its role as a socially responsible organization dedicated to community support, especially during significant religious occasions.

Speaking to the media, KBCA President Shahid Hussain Mir, as per the statement said by other office bearers, stated that the Association has always played an active role in social service.

“He highlighted that the organization’s constitution encourages and permits members to extend support to the needy during challenging times, natural disasters, or major occasions like Eid.”

Providing details, Mir said that this year’s initiative saw an approximate 15 percent increase in distribution compared to last year. “A total of 560-plus bakery kits have been distributed in three phases, including 255 kits in the first phase, 155 in the second and 150 in the third phase,” he said.

He further noted that while the Association generally avoids publicizing such charitable activities, the decision to highlight this initiative was taken to inspire other sectors of society to come forward and contribute towards helping the underprivileged.

“Kashmiris have always been at the forefront of charitable and welfare activities—be it in healthcare, education, or during times of crisis,” Mir said, urging people to actively participate in such initiatives to help build a stronger and more compassionate society.

“On the occasion, he also advised bakery owners to maintain good behavior with customers, ensure the supply of quality products and strictly adhere to the guidelines set by authorities. He appealed to consumers to report any grievances against Association members through the contact numbers provided below the official rate lists.”

“Among others present at the event were senior advisors Umar Mukhtar and Atta Mohammad, General Secretary Bilal Ahmad Khan, Senior Vice President Javaid Ahmad Khan, Vice President Humayun Yousuf Jan, Additional General Secretary Ashiq Hussain Bhat, Treasurer Syed Ayoub Sofi and Organizer Ejaz Ahmad Sofi etc. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such welfare initiatives in the future to extend maximum possible support to the needy sections of society,” said the spokesperson further.
