Says no shortage of fuel, essentials in J&K; stock sufficient for 10-15 days

Jammu, Apr 02: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the Union Territory currently has adequate stocks of essential supplies and fuel, urging people not to panic amid global uncertainties.

Speaking to reporters after Assembly proceedings, CM Omar, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said global developments remain beyond the control of both Jammu and Kashmir and the country. He said any major global disruption would have a cascading impact across India, which would eventually reflect in J&K as well.

He, however, reassured that the situation on the ground remains stable for now. “Essential supplies and fuel are intact. There is no shortage at present and we have sufficient stock for the next 10 to 15 days,” he said.

“If the country witnesses a decline in supplies due to any escalation, it will ultimately affect us too,” he added.

CM Omar said there is no cause for concern in the immediate future and appealed for calm. He also noted that the Prime Minister has assured that supply chains are being maintained to prevent disruptions.

“There is no need to worry for the next couple of weeks,” he said. (KNO)
