Srinagar, Apr 02: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said that there is no government accommodation under unauthorised occupation, while clarifying the status of certain residential units occupied under specific circumstances.
Replying to an Unstarred Assembly Question by MLA Tanvir Sadiq, the Estates Department, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), informed that Kashmiri migrants currently occupy 372 residential units at Jammu since the migration period, and no eviction process has been initiated in such cases.
The government further stated that 50 residential units in Srinagar have been occupied by some persons through the District Administration Pulwama earlier. It added that due process for eviction in these cases has already been initiated.
The reply clarified that these instances do not fall under illegal or unauthorised occupation in the conventional sense, and appropriate action is being taken as per rules wherever required. (KNO)
