DEO Udhampur flags off IEC Van to spread awareness

UDHAMPUR, APRIL 03: District Election Officer Udhampur Minga Sherpa Friday flagged off an Information, Education and Communication Van here from the DC Office Complex to generate mass public awareness regarding the Annual Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll 2026.

The flag-off ceremony was held in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh and Deputy District Election Officer Babu Pradeep Kumar along with other concerned officials.

Interacting with media persons, the DEO informed that the IEC Van shall traverse across the district to disseminate information about the ongoing revision process. The initiative aims to educate citizens on procedures related to inclusion, deletion, correction and transposition of names in the Panchayat electoral rolls.

Emphasizing the significance of accurate and updated electoral rolls, the DEO stated that these are essential for strengthening grassroots democracy. He urged all eligible residents, particularly new voters who have attained the age of 18 years as on April 1-2026—to verify their details and ensure their names are included in the electoral rolls within the stipulated time frame.
