Zero tolerance against drug menace in Ladakh: LG
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

Leh, Apr 06: Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday said that strict action will be taken to curb the rising instances of drug trafficking and abuse in Ladakh, asserting that the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against the menace.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said that he has directed the Director General of Police to ensure stringent enforcement measures across the Union Territory. He also ordered a comprehensive crackdown on drug traffickers and the dismantling of their hideouts, especially in view of the upcoming tourist season in the region.

He warned that consumption, sale, storage or any facilitation of drugs in any form will invite strict punishment under the law.

The LG further appealed to various social, cultural, educational and religious organisations, including Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh Gompa Association, IKMT Kargil, Islamia School Kargil and Anjuman Imamia Leh, to play an active role in generating awareness among parents and youth about the dangers of drug abuse.

Reiterating the administration’s firm resolve, he said that the sanctity and serenity of Ladakh will not be allowed to be compromised at any cost—(KNO)
