RAMBAN, APRIL 13: Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology, Babila Rakwal, who is also the Mentor Secretary for implementation of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in Jammu and Kashmir for Poonch, Monday visited the district to review progress on the ongoing 100 day intensive campaign against drug abuse.

During the visit, the Commissioner Secretary chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess implementation of the district action plan formulated by the District Administration under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan.

The meeting, as per an official statement, focused on evaluating the coordinated efforts of various stakeholder departments in achieving the objective of a drug-free society.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh Charak, delivered a detailed PowerPoint Presentation highlighting the initiatives undertaken, awareness activities conducted and the roadmap prepared by different departments for effective implementation of the campaign. He also informed about inter-departmental coordination and grassroots-level outreach programmes being carried out across the district.

The Commissioner Secretary emphasized the need for a multi-pronged and sustained approach to curb the drug abuse and called for intensified awareness campaigns, targeting the youth and vulnerable sections. She suggested strengthening the community participation, involving educational institutions, civil society and religious leaders to ensure widespread public engagement.

Stressing the importance of collective responsibility, the Commissioner Secretary asked the officers to ensure active involvement of people from all walks of life in the campaign, making it a mass movement. She also underscored the need for regular monitoring, impactful IEC activities and measurable outcomes.

The Commissioner Secretary further reviewed preparedness for the Mega Padyatra scheduled to be led by the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, on April 15 in Ramban. She directed the concerned departments to ensure seamless coordination and maximum public participation to make the event a grand success.
