Srinagar, Apr 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday extended warm greetings to the people on the joyous occasion of Baisakhi, highlighting the festival’s cultural and spiritual significance.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor said, “On the joyous occasion of Baisakhi, I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all. This harvest festival stands as a solemn reminder of the extraordinary contributions of our farmers whose labor, sacrifice, and dedication sustain the very foundation of our nation. Baisakhi also marks the historic foundation of the Khalsa Panth by the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who empowered the people and the community. As we celebrate Baisakhi, let us recommit ourselves to Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s eternal teachings of righteousness, unity, devotion and selfless service to humanity. May this festival bring prosperity and joy to all in the year ahead.”

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in his message, said that Baisakhi marks the harvest season and symbolizes prosperity, hope and new beginnings. He noted that the festival reflects the rich cultural diversity and communal harmony of Jammu and Kashmir, where people of different faiths celebrate each other’s traditions with mutual respect and enthusiasm.

Omar said such occasions strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and reinforce the values of unity and inclusiveness in society. He expressed hope that the festival would bring peace, happiness and prosperity to every household and prayed for the well-being of the farming community, whose hard work sustains the region’s economy.
