Attends review meeting with Union RDD Minister Shivraj Chouhan

Srinagar, Apr 18: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, on Saturday participated in an online review meeting convened by Union Minister for Rural Development Department, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The meeting was held with Ministers in charge of Rural Development from States and Union Territories to review the status of implementation of MGNREGA and seek suggestions for The Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) which is being rolled out for implementation shortly.

During the deliberations, Javid Dar raised key issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the need for enhancement of MGNREGA wage rates in hilly regions from Rs 272 to Rs 311, keeping in view the unique geographical and economic conditions of the area.

He said that the revision should be in line with the Minimum Wages framework and sought adequate financial support from the Government of India for clearing the pending material liabilities as the system is transitioning towards implementation of new framework under VB G RAM G Mission.
