BARAMULLA, APRIL 27: In a significant step towards building a drug-free society, District Administration Baramulla, in collaboration with the Street Vendors Association Baramulla, organised an awareness camp followed by a rally under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, S.F Hamid presided over the awareness camp held at Aqaf Market, wherein Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Planning Officer and other district officers were present, followed by participation of street vendors, shopkeepers, and members of the local community.

The camp focused on sensitising participants about the harmful effects of drug abuse, its impact on families and society, and the importance of awareness and prevention at the grassroots level.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the administration’s sustained efforts to curb drug abuse and safeguard the youth. He urged people from all sections of society to actively join the campaign and extend their full support in eliminating the drug menace. Emphasizing collective responsibility, he called upon parents, teachers, traders, and community leaders to remain vigilant and contribute towards spreading awareness.

A pledge was also administered on the occasion, reaffirming commitment to a drug-free society.

Following the camp, an awareness rally was flagged off with banners and placards, passing through various markets of Baramulla town. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from local street vendors, shopkeepers, and members of the public, who actively joined hands to spread awareness against drug abuse.

The Deputy Commissioner along with other officers also joined the rally, interacting with participants and encouraging them to act as ambassadors of change by taking the message to their respective communities.

The initiative reflects the continued commitment of District Administration Baramulla to strengthen public awareness and ensure active community participation in the fight against drug abuse under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.
