Jammu, Apr 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, which is being observed on Friday.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor said, “On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all. The timeless wisdom of Lord Buddha, rooted in compassion, non‑violence and equality, continues to illuminate humanity’s journey toward spiritual salvation and lasting peace.

“In a world of great change, we are reminded not only of the challenges before us but also of the immense strength that lies in our unity. On this auspicious festival, I pray that through solidarity and shared resolve, we may continue our steadfast journey toward the welfare of all humankind. May the celebrations on Buddha Purnima awaken within us the resolve to walk the path of enlightenment shown by Lord Buddha, and inspire a collective pursuit of universal harmony and peace,” he added.

In his message, CM Omar Abdullah recalled the teachings of Gautama Buddha and said they continue to guide humanity towards the path of peace, compassion and non-violence.

He said that Buddha’s message of love, tolerance and service to mankind is of timeless relevance and holds special significance in the present times, when the world seeks harmony and mutual understanding. Highlighting the importance of communal harmony, he said that the occasion is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to peaceful coexistence, brotherhood and respect for diversity.

The Chief Minister prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the entire country.
