Assures support for free, fearless Journalism

Srinagar, May 03: On the occasion of International Press Freedom Day, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq extended his heartfelt appreciation to journalists and members of the media fraternity for their unwavering commitment to truth and public service.

In a statement, Tanvir Sadiq lauded the resilience and dedication of journalists in Kashmir who, despite numerous challenges, continue to play a vital role in keeping citizens informed and holding institutions accountable. He emphasised that a free, responsible and vibrant press remains the cornerstone of a healthy democracy.

He also paid solemn tribute to those journalists and media personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty, acknowledging their courage and sacrifice in the pursuit of truth.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Tanvir said that the Omar Abdullah-led elected govt is actively working towards fostering an environment where media professionals can operate with freedom, security, and dignity. He underscored the importance of ensuring that the press can function without fear or undue constraints, thereby strengthening democratic values in the region.

He further expressed hope that the media fraternity will continue to uphold the highest standards of journalism and serve as a beacon of integrity and accountability in society.
