Counselling sessions, awareness drives held across Shopian

SHOPIAN, MAY 04: Continuing the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, a series of awareness and outreach activities were organized across district Shopian to discourage substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle among youth.

Counselling sessions on mental well-being were conducted in various schools and institutions, including Govt Polytechnic College Shopian and several higher secondary schools. The sessions focused on stress management, building self-confidence, and adopting positive life choices. Students actively participated and interacted with resource persons.

Awareness events were held at multiple locations, including Fantaliz Educational Institute Alishapora and High School Gatipora, where participants carried placards and raised slogans advocating a drug-free society.

In Zone Harman, Poshan Project Shopian organized awareness activities at AWC Gagran, involving community interaction and poster displays to sensitize the public.

Additionally,Tourism Development Authority, Dubjan- Peer Ki Gali conducted awareness events at Tourism Park Bohrihalan and Shirmal Shopian, further extending the campaign’s outreach.

As part of youth engagement initiatives, the Mental Health & Wellbeing Committee of GDC Shopian organized a badminton match within the college campus, encouraging students to adopt sports and constructive activities as a means to stay away from substance abuse.

The activities witnessed active participation of students, Anganwadi workers, and local residents, reflecting increased awareness and community involvement towards building a drug-free and healthy society in the district.
